20 Microns Limited, India’s largest producer of white minerals for functional fillers, extenders, and specialty chemicals, recently hosted an Emergency Drill Training at their Bhuj facility. The training was conducted by Akshar Management Consultant, an esteemed organization chosen to implement Environmental Management System (EMS) and Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series (OHSAS) based on ISO 14001:2015 and OHSAS 18001:2007 standards.
During the initial visit to 20 Microns, Akshar Management Consultant conducted a comprehensive gap assessment to understand the existing facilities, processes, procedures, and the overall Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) awareness within the organization. This visit aimed to identify areas that required improvement to align with international standards.
As part of this first visit, a training session focused on Emergency Preparedness Planning and conducting Mock Drills was organized. The session was designed to enhance the participants’ understanding of emergency procedures, ensure readiness in case of an actual emergency, and improve the overall safety culture within the organization. The training covered various aspects of emergency management, including risk assessment, communication strategies, evacuation procedures, and roles and responsibilities during emergencies.
The session proved to be a valuable learning experience for all attendees. Employees gained practical knowledge on how to handle emergencies efficiently, ensuring their safety and the safety of their colleagues. The mock drills conducted during the training provided a hands-on experience, allowing participants to practice the emergency procedures in a controlled environment.
The commitment of 20 Microns to enhance their EHS standards through collaboration with Akshar Management Consultant reflects their dedication to maintaining a safe and environmentally responsible workplace. By aligning their practices with ISO 14001:2015 and OHSAS 18001:2007 standards, 20 Microns is not only improving their operational efficiency but also contributing to sustainable development and the well-being of their employees and the community.
Overall, the training and gap assessment were crucial steps in the continuous improvement of EHS practices at 20 Microns Limited, ensuring they remain a leader in their industry with a strong commitment to safety and environmental responsibility.
